The Katedral Jakarta (Jakarta Cathedral or The Church of Our Lady of Assumption) is a beautiful Victorian Gothic cathedral built by the Dutch in Central Jakarta in 1901. Each stained glass pane is unlike the others, though admittedly rather simple. There's a pieta in the back corner in front of which some people sit for a quiet moment.

The murders triggered the infamous mass killing of Indonesia's leftist groups, and opened the way for Soeharto's military regime which started from 1967 to 1998.
